What Is a Slider Bed Conveyor?

A conventional slider bed conveyor is a powered flat belt conveyor in which the carrying side of the belt slides across a smooth, stationary support bed. Unlike a belt-over-roller design, the belt is supported by the bed rather than a series of carrying rollers.

The continuous support creates a stable conveying surface for cartons, bags, cases, components, and loose parts. Slider bed belt conveyors are commonly used for packing, inspecting, sorting, assembly, testing, and general product transport.

Slider Bed vs. Belt Over Roller.

Both conveyor types provide a continuous belt carrying surface. The important difference is how that belt is supported underneath.

Quick rule of thumb Choose a slider bed when straightforward stationary support fits the load and run. Consider belt over roller when reduced belt friction is important for a heavier load or longer conveyor.
